It's the blab heard 'round the world: Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz said in a Vanity Fair interview that finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was not really a central goal after all:
"For bureaucratic reasons we settled on one issue, weapons of mass destruction, because it was the one reason everyone could agree on."

This disturbing comment, already being spun like a nuclear top in Washington, has only added fuel to the fire in Britain's parliament as oppositin to PM Tony Blair continues to grow (story here.)
In the wake of news that American is putting off Iraqi self-governance for a little while, and the persistent problems of continued armed resistance (including a baffling suicide attack that has catapulted the attacker into cult heroine status) Patrick Seale of the Gulf News (one of the most influential English-language news services in the Arab world) cautions America and it's Arab supporters against resistance to America's increasingly foolish policy and practices in the Middle East (article here.)
While I am opposed to pretty much any war on principles, I have found myself especially sickened by this latest example -- lies, propoganda, and actions which only worsen our foreign relations and by extension stand to endanger American lives and interests. Would that Bush & Co. would pool the wool from their own eyes long enough to see the disaster that they have wrought; it makes his father's shameful invasion of Panama seem like a mminor misunderstanding in comparison.
